Holi in the hills: sweets, sharbat and gifts from Kumaon.
Kumaon is known for its Holi songs: the baithki Holi sung sitting together through the weeks before the festival, and the khadi Holi sung standing, in a circle, as the day comes near. The colour comes at the end.
For the guests who come by, the shelves below carry hill sweets, buransh and other sharbats, pickles and gift boxes from family shops in the hills.
Holi has passed for this year. The next one falls on 22 March 2027, and the shelves below are open all year.
